Colombian cape gooseberries, also known as aguaymanto, are expected to surpass $100 million in exports in the next five years, driven by the reopening of hotels, restaurants, and bars in Europe and the United States. The fruit's exports, primarily to the Netherlands, the United States, Germany, Canada, Belgium, France, and the United Arab Emirates, increased by 18% to $23.6 million between January and June of this year. ProColombia is implementing an international promotion strategy to further boost sales, including participation in relevant trade fairs and market studies in Germany. Caribbean Exotics and Frutireyes are among the Colombian companies leading the exports of this fruit to various global markets.
