Given the significant role of molybdenum in crop yields, ensuring plants have a sufficient amount is crucial. However, this is quite problematic, writes The Ukrainian Farmer magazine. Thanks to the information materials provided by Yara regarding the "last" 10,000 soil sample analysis results from across Ukraine, which were analyzed in the Lancrop Laboratories (United Kingdom, Pocklington), it was established that the vast majority of samples have a very low molybdenum content. Soil classification regarding the content of this element occurs according to the following scale: In most of the analyzed soil samples, molybdenum content is within 0.01-0.06 ppm, which is tens or even hundreds of times less than the recommended level. Until recently, it was believed that molybdenum deficiency was primarily a problem in acidic soils, since under such conditions this element becomes bound and unavailable to plants.
