Following robust growth in October, exports of basa fish to China continued to rise steadily in November, with Vietnam exporting nearly USD 59 million worth of basa fish, marking a significant increase of 17% compared to the same period in 2024. China is the largest export market for Vietnamese basa fish, ranking first in overall export value. Exports of Vietnamese basa fish to the U.S. market continue to face challenges. In November, exports reached USD 20 million, a 23% decrease from the previous year. Exports to the EU countries amounted to USD 12 million, a 25% decrease year-on-year. In the CPTPP market, exports to the UK reached USD 5 million, a 4% decrease year-on-year, while exports to Mexico increased to USD 8 million, a 50% increase year-on-year, and exports to Japan and Malaysia increased by 2% each. In November, exports of Vietnamese basa fish to Brazil reached USD 15 million, a 13% increase year-on-year. From January to November, exports to Thailand increased by 24%, to Egypt by 33%, and to Russia by 45%. Looking ahead to 2026, the continued impact of the 20% anti-dumping tariff in the U.S. is expected to further weaken the competitiveness of Vietnamese products. Industry insiders call for Vietnamese businesses to actively promote export market diversification, expand into high-growth markets such as Brazil and the CPTPP, and focus on high-value-added deep-processed product lines. Obtaining sustainable international certifications is a key measure to enhance the global competitiveness of Vietnamese basa fish.
