In March, Russia saw a decrease in consumer prices for eggs by 2.3% and for chicken meat by 0.2% compared to February, according to Rosstat. This trend indicates an acceleration in the decline of egg prices and a deceleration in the decline of chicken prices from the previous month. Since the start of the year, egg prices have fallen by 4.7% and chicken prices by 3.8%, despite a year-on-year increase of 45.3% for eggs and 27.8% for chicken meat. To address last year's significant price hikes, the Russian government has removed duties on egg imports, allowing for up to 1.2 billion eggs to be imported, mainly from Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Belarus. Furthermore, a quota for duty-free import of 140 thousand tons of poultry meat has been set for 2024, with 7.6 thousand tons already permitted.
