The European Commission has approved Spain's application to add the Uruenya wine region to the Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) list, and Hungary's request to add a special carrot variety from the Fertoud region to the Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) list. Uruenya is known for its ideal conditions for wine production and the unique characteristics of its wines, while the Hungarian carrots are famous for their intense red color and sweet taste, attributed to the area's soil and climate. These new additions will join the existing 1,177 protected designations of origin for wine and 898 protected geographical indications for foods that are already registered.
