The EU predicts a long-term decline in tomato production

By 2035, the EU’s winter production of fresh tomatoes is expected to decline as a shift towards smaller-fruited varieties takes hold. However, consumption is expected to remain stable due to growing demand for smaller varieties, particularly for snack tomatoes. Average annual tomato consumption is expected to be 15.2 kilograms per person. This is according to the European Commission’s “EU Agricultural Outlook 2024-2035”.
