that could allow an annual saving of 1.6 billion euros for European farmers, as announced this Tuesday by the community executive. This provisional agreement was closed on the eve between the European Parliament and the Danish presidency of the EU, and will allow "reducing the administrative burden, simplifying payment regimes and strengthening the competitiveness of farmers" during the current CAP cycle (2023-2027), according to the European Commission (EC). The text includes a simplification of the requirements on farms, a better recognition of agricultural practices such as organic farming, more agile support for small and medium-sized farms, greater access to financial tools, and greater flexibility for Member States in managing their CAP Strategic Plans.
