The Executive Yuan of Taiwan is set to pass an agreement to allow the import of Canadian whole-age beef, following a risk assessment by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The revised import regulations will permit the import of beef from countries where all cattle ages are imported, including the EU, UK, US, and Japan. The Ministry will announce the new regulations promptly, and successful border inspections will result in the beef's entry, while failed inspections will lead to return or destruction. Due to high pork imports leading to a decrease in domestic pork supply, the Council of Agriculture in Taiwan is implementing time-limited and limited pork import incentives from May to September this year, with a target amount of 50,000 metric tons, to reduce industry purchases and ensure domestic safety stock while providing imported pork for processing.
