The export of garlic shells revives the reputation of filial piety.

Systematic breeding and management to maintain the reputation of the export specialty item, the Suncheon gary shellfish, is now in full swing. The Future Fisheries Research Institute, Eastern Branch of the Jeonnam Marine and Fisheries Science Institute, is pushing forward research for resource recovery and productivity improvement by settling 280,000 artificially bred gary shellfish seeds (average 5mm in size) produced in-house in the Suncheon Byullangmaeng sea area. This year, the focus is on enlarging the size of the settled seeds to adapt more stably to the natural environment, thereby increasing the initial survival rate and maximizing the effectiveness of breeding and management. Additionally, the institute has introduced a mid-term breeding method with tidal flat enclosures to limit mobility and prevent predation, with plans to precisely analyze the breeding management effects and utilize the results as scientific evidence.
