The export of Peruvian maca in 2025: more volume, less income

According to Martín Garay, a market analyst at Garay Company, the sector's X-ray reveals a worrying paradox: although the volume of maca powder exported grew by 20% compared to the previous year, sales revenues suffered a drastic drop of 27%. According to preliminary data at the close of week 50, Peru managed to send abroad 3,659 tons of maca compared to 3,045 in 2024, which confirms that global demand for this superfood persists. However, the logistical effort did not translate into greater profitability. The total value invoiced decreased from US$ 23.82 million in 2024 to US$ 17.20 million in 2025, mainly due to a free fall in international prices.
