According to preliminary data, since the beginning of 2025, Russia has exported 1.7 million tons of sunflower oil (data on deliveries to the EAEU is for January-May), reported the analytical center of the company Ruseed, citing the Federal Customs Service. Over two quarters, shipments have decreased by 38% compared to the same period last year. In particular, sales to countries outside the region fell by 45%, while to CIS countries they increased by 31%, analysts compared. The decrease in exports is linked to limited supply, while prices for sunflower oil on the global market remain high, analysts note. Importing countries are redirecting demand to cheaper types of oils—palm and soybean. The largest buyer of Russian sunflower oil this year is Turkey (546 thousand tons), followed by India, which purchased 505 thousand tons.
