The European Parliament reconfirmed the decision to extend until next year the entry into force of the anti-deforestation regulation, which seeks to certify the origin of shipments of beef, soy, timber, rubber, cocoa, coffee, and palm oil, ensuring that these do not come from deforested areas after December 31, 2020. By 405 votes in favor, 242 against, and 8 abstentions, European legislators established that large operators and traders must apply the regulation starting December 30, 2026, and small operators (individuals and companies with fewer than 50 employees and annual turnover related to the products in question less than 10 million euros) starting June 30, 2027.
