On April 19, Vietnam exported 84 tons of sweet potatoes from Vinh Long Province to China, marking the first official export following an agreement with China in November 2022. This agreement allows Vietnamese sweet potatoes to be exported to China, bypassing the previous limitations through border trade. The agreement also includes inspections of 70 planting areas and 13 packaging plants in Vietnam, with 27 planting areas and 3 packing plants located in Vinh Long Province. Vietnam has approximately 100,000 hectares dedicated to sweet potato cultivation, producing 1.2-1.3 million tons annually.
