The Department of Agriculture of the Generalitat has detected 13 new cases of African swine fever in wild boars, including the first two outside the 'zero zone', which was initially a radius of 6 kilometers from the boar found in Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona). Specifically, these two positive boars were located in a development in Molins de Rei (Barcelona), which extends the high-risk area to include that town and El Papiol, bringing the total number of municipalities to 14. Agriculture has kept the safety radius of 20 kilometers unchanged. With the new 13 cases, there are now 155 infected boars located in Catalonia since the disease appeared at the end of last November. The Minister of Agriculture, Òscar Ordeig, has announced that a resolution will be issued this Friday to extend the restrictions to the natural environment to Molins de Rei and El Papiol and that fencing will be reinforced on the N-2 and B-23.
