The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (Aesan) has urged for caution after a Salmonella outbreak in Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands, which has been linked to the consumption of Spanish cucumbers. The agency emphasized that the source of the outbreak is not yet confirmed and that the Norwegian authorities' findings, which suggest that the cucumbers might be the source, are not yet verified. Aesan is reviewing traceability data in case the contaminated food is of Spanish origin. The outbreak has affected a total of 72 people in Norway, 24 of whom were hospitalized, and similar cases have been reported in Sweden and the Netherlands. No new cases have been reported recently, but Aesan is keeping the situation under review in case of any new developments.
