The Mekong Delta in Vietnam has seen a rise in fruit productivity and quality, thanks to advanced techniques and investment, but the Covid-19 epidemic has affected consumption. In 2022's first quarter, fruit production is expected to reach 1.6 million tons, but challenges persist due to low prices and high logistics costs, which threaten the region's competitiveness in the global fruit market. The high cost of complying with VietGAP and Global GAP standards, manual harvesting losses, and infrastructure issues such as inadequate cold storage and fragmented logistics chains further exacerbate the difficulties. Solutions include improving quality, reducing logistics costs, and developing a more efficient supply chain to enhance the competitiveness of Mekong Delta fruits.
