Aronia fruit, also known as the 'super fruit', is a highly beneficial plant that is now included in the class of medicinal plants in Turkey. It is rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber, and can be economically viable in as little as three years. The plant is resistant to harsh climatic conditions and can be cultivated in areas with plenty of sun or semi-shade. Samsun Metropolitan Municipality is supporting aronia production by distributing seedlings to producers in Samsun, with the aim of diversifying agricultural production and providing an alternative income source. Commercial cultivation of aronia in Turkey started in 2017 and it is now grown in various regions including Yalova.
