The gene pool of Kazakh horse breeds is being improved

The objectives and strategic directions of development of the Institute of Horse Breeding and Forage Production in Kazakhstan were discussed at a meeting in the Government chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin. The main strategic goals of the Institute are to preserve and improve the gene pool of Kazakh horse breeds along with scientific and practical coordination of selection and breeding work in horse breeding. To achieve them, the Institute faces the following tasks in the near future: determining the necessary volume and sources of funding, attracting scientific and highly qualified specialists to work, as well as creating a material and technical base. As noted by the head of the Institute, Alibek Bazargaliyev, in the near future, the country's leading horse breeders will conduct a survey of Kazakh pedigree horses throughout the country, based on the results of which a plan for the revival of horse breeds will be drawn up.
