Global wine production will grow by 3% this year compared to 2024, although it will remain below the historical average due to poor harvests caused by climatic conditions in key countries such as Spain and France. The International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) which published its first forecasts for 2025 this Wednesday indicated that it estimates production will reach about 232 million hectoliters, 7% less than the average of the last five years. Italy will remain, by far, the world's leading producer with 47.4 million hectoliters, an 8% increase compared to 2024 and 2% above the average of those five years. The counterpoint in Europe is marked first by France, which will remain at 35.9 million hectoliters, 16% less than the five-year average due to extreme heat and drought.
