The Council of Ministers has approved a royal decree aimed at "modernizing the regulatory bases for the granting, under competitive conditions, of subsidies for the promotion of Spanish native breeds," according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA). The purpose of the subsidies is "to contribute to the development of breeding programs and the implementation and promotion of the Native Breed logo" by breeders' associations officially recognized by the autonomous communities. The new royal decree adapts the regulatory bases of the subsidies to the breeders' associations to the new European regulatory framework on State aid set out in Regulation (EU) 2022/2472, of the Commission, of December 14, 2022.
