The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) has ordered, as of today, the confinement of all outdoor poultry farms in Spain for the prevention and control of avian flu contagion. This new decision extends the confinement of poultry across the entire country, which since last Monday had already affected about 1,200 Spanish municipalities located in areas considered to be of special risk and surveillance, in order to avoid contact with migratory wild birds that are infected. According to the Ministry, this is a reinforcement of preventive measures against avian influenza, given the increased risk of expansion of this highly infectious disease.
