In January–September, the region produced 522.3 thousand tons of milk. According to Vologdastat, by the beginning of October of the current year, the Vologda region had 168.1 thousand heads of cattle, including 75.1 thousand cows. The cattle population increased by 2.7% over the year, and the number of cows increased by 1.4%. The share of breeding cows exceeded 70%. In January–September, the region produced 522.3 thousand tons of raw milk—4.8% more than the previous year. The main increase in the indicator was provided by agricultural organizations. They increased milk production by 5.3% to 504 thousand tons. The average productivity of the dairy herd in agricultural enterprises increased by 4.5% over the year and amounted to 7,146 kg. Peasant (farmer) households produced 12.4 thousand tons of milk, and households produced 5.9 thousand tons.
