The Jeonnam Marine and Fisheries Science Institute (Director Kim Chung-nam) is pushing forward with field-specific research to improve on-site issues related to climate change, and this year, it is seeing results such as field tests of new varieties of laver and the production of eel fry. The Jeonnam Health and Environment Research Institute recently launched a test and research project investing 14.4 billion won in 45 tasks to overcome the challenges of climate change, such as rising water temperatures, decreased aquatic product production, and increased natural disaster damage. In fact, this year, a new research and development (R&D) project, "Sustainable production of superior laver seeds and development of land-based aquaculture technology," is being pushed forward with an investment of 35 billion won over five years. Additionally, an investment of 34.5 billion won over five years is being made in another project.
