The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has brought forward the allocation of Gulf of Cádiz red shrimp quotas for 2026 and compared to the previous campaign to facilitate fishing and economic planning for the trawl fleet, a measure that will benefit nearly 130 companies. The resolution, published this Thursday in the Official State Gazette (BOE), establishes individual fishing opportunities, as well as initial individual red shrimp quotas (CIEM zone 9a, which corresponds to the Atlantic façade and Gulf of Cádiz), and capture limits within functional unit 30 of Cádiz (15 tons of the 185 tons total allocated to Spain) for vessels of the authorized bottom trawling modality. This early publication provides legal certainty to the sector and contributes to the sustainable management of fishery resources.
