The Marking Plan for toothfish specimens in Argentina has been finalized

On December 6, the trip of the longliner Argenova XIV concluded, in which the plan to mark specimens of toothfish (Dissostichus eleginoides), located in the northern sector of the slope in the Argentine Sea, was launched. The species has a wide distribution in the Southwest Atlantic Ocean, from latitude 37 ° to 56 ° South, on the slope and the continental shelf. Given the existence of new information related to their migratory movements and reproductive aspects, it was necessary to increase the biological-fishing knowledge of the species from the northern sector, from 42 ° South, an area that is currently little visited by the fleet. The tag and recapture program is a very useful tool to gather information about the movements of the species.
