At 05.00 AM (April 16, 2016) the Meteorological Department issued an announcement, Tropical Storm Warning for the Northern Part of Thailand, No. 4, stating that between April 16-20, 2016, the northern part of Thailand will experience a tropical storm, characterized by heavy rain, strong gusty winds, and hail in some areas, and there may also be thunderstorms in some areas. It will start from the northeastern and eastern regions first, then the central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, and the northern region will be affected in the next phase. This is due to a high-pressure area or cold air mass from China spreading down to cover the South China Sea, causing the southerly and southeasterly winds covering the lower northeastern and eastern regions to strengthen, while the northern part of Thailand is extremely hot.
