(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Jeon Jae-hoon = The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 5th that it held the 'K-Food Plus Buyer Invitation Export Consultation Meeting' at COEX in Gangnam from the 29th to the 31st of last month and concluded business agreements (MOU) worth 120 million dollars.
This is an increase of about 30% compared to last year's export consultation meeting performance of 90 million dollars.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held 1,649 export consultations (worth 110 million dollars) with 316 companies from 42 countries that participated in the meeting to expand exports in the agricultural sector.
Among these, 28 agreements (worth 8 million dollars) were concluded in the agri-food sector, including deals for tteokbokki, mandu, makgeolli, grapes, and ginseng, 3 agreements (worth 1 million dollars) in the food service sector, including deals for comprehensive Korean-style eateries and tonkatsu, and 4 agreements (worth 3 million dollars) in the agricultural sector, including deals for vertical farming techniques.
Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Song Mi-ryeong said, "K-Food is growing beyond simple food to become a global brand that combines culture and technology," and added, "This consultation meeting will be a stepping stone for K-Food to make further strides in the global market."
