The Russian Ministry of Agriculture predicts that by 2030, Russia's self-sufficiency in fruits and berries may reach 50%, with apples already reaching 80% in 2021. However, experts argue that imported fruits and berries are often cheaper than domestic ones, leading consumers to choose them more frequently. While the production of fruits and berries in the organized sector has increased in recent years, there are challenges in the sector such as a decline in gross harvest due to difficulties with fertilizers and plant protection products, and the majority of berries are still grown in household gardens.
