Egypt and Brazil have identified each other as important commercial partners, with Brazil being the first South American country for Egypt and the largest trading partner in Africa for Brazil. To boost trade, especially in the agricultural sector, a direct flight route between the two countries is being established by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with the ministries of civil aviation and finance, and EgyptAir. This move is expected to reduce the high costs of transporting perishable goods. In 2019, the trade exchange between Egypt and Brazil reached approximately $2.9 billion, with Brazil exporting corn, wheat, and dried vegetables, and importing citrus fruits, grapes, dates, garlic, onions, and vegetables from Egypt. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, trade relations have continued, with efforts underway to further develop the economic relationship between the two nations.
