The Food Industries Technology Center at the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Egypt is completing procedures to add 12 date factories to the white list of factories that meet the National Food Safety Authority's requirements. This is part of a strategy to develop the dates sector, which includes expanding the cultivation of in-demand date varieties and increasing exports. Despite being one of the largest dates producing countries globally, Egypt's share of the global date trade volume is only 4%. The government has implemented initiatives such as establishing the largest palm cultivation and date production farm in the Toshka and Owainat area, and is expecting a boost in exports in the coming years by focusing on European countries and introducing new products. The ministry also facilitates exporters' participation in foreign exhibitions to introduce Egyptian products to potential importers.
