The Ministry of Supply: Construction of 60 field silos with a storage capacity of 600,000 tons in Egypt

The Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade continues its efforts to complete the scheme to raise storage capacities through the national silos project, which contributes to the absorption of strategic crops, especially wheat, which is considered a national security for the country. Major General Sherif Basili, head of the Egyptian Holding Company for Silos and Storage, affiliated with the ministry, revealed that the ministry’s plans include the establishment of 60 field silos. In the various governorates of the Republic, with a storage capacity of 10,000 tons per silo, provided that these silos are in production areas in order to reduce transportation and fuel costs. He added that the storage capacities of a number of silos in Upper Egypt will be increased to 90,000 tons instead of 30 thousand tons, and coordination is currently underway with the Railways Authority and the River Transport Authority to connect with the Dandara silo in Qena Governorate.
