The Netherlands is an important transit country for organic products

In 2020, the 27 Member States of the European Union imported 2.8 million tons of organic agricultural and food products from third countries. That is almost 2% less than a year earlier. Of the total imports, 31% went through the Netherlands. Belgium and Germany are also important transit countries. In 2020, the European Union imported 1.34 million tons of organic agricultural raw materials, 11% less than in 2019. This category includes grains, vegetable oil, sugar, milk powder, butter and unprocessed coffee and cocoa. Imports of other primary products increased by 8% to 1.18 million tons.
