The Spanish Government has approved a new management plan for eastern Atlantic and Mediterranean bluefin tuna for 2024, in line with agreements by catching countries and the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tuna. The plan, published in the Official State Gazette, distributes a quota of 6,783.67 tons to Spain's fishing fleets and allows bluefin tuna fishing by the purse seine fleet from May 26 to July 1. The plan also permits a pilot project for fishing with purse seine gear in the Northwest Cantabrian Sea.
