According to César Laines, an export specialist, the per capita consumption of nuts in Chile reaches 2.5 kilograms per year. "You walk around the city and every 15 blocks you find a street-level store selling nuts and a chain store," comments Laines, who highlights that this phenomenon shows an apparent demand that is not being taken advantage of by the Peruvian agro-export sector. According to 2024 data, Chilean imports of nuts experienced a 19% growth compared to 2023. Among the most imported products are almond (3,974 tons), pistachio (169 tons), walnut (142 tons), and hazelnut (68 tons).
