The pomegranate harvest from Adıyaman, which is exported to 9 countries around the world, has begun.
A harvest ceremony was held in Göltarla village, Samsat district, for pomegranates, known for their benefits to blood pressure. The large-seeded and juicy pomegranates are being harvested through the joint effort of women and men. The pomegranates are collected by women and placed in crates, while men transport them.
Transported by tractors and trucks to cold storage facilities, the pomegranates are sorted here into table pomegranates or those for squeezing. Adıyaman Governor Osman Varol harvested pomegranates with the Youth Center youth affiliated with the Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate.
In Adıyaman, 500 thousand tons of pomegranates are produced annually on an area of 19 thousand 250 decares. Organic pomegranate production is 12 thousand tons on an area of 5 thousand 600 decares. The pomegranates, grown through the efforts of the producers, contribute significantly to Adıyaman's agricultural diversity both in the domestic market and in exports. Exports are made from Adıyaman to 9 countries, including America, Germany, Iraq, Spain, and the Netherlands.
