His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, issued a federal decree granting His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Ahmed Al Mendous the "rank of Minister," effective from the date of its issuance and to be published in the Official Gazette. His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Ahmed Al Mendous is one of the most prominent Emirati leaders in the meteorology sector at both the regional and international levels, holding the position of President of the World Meteorological Organization, in addition to his role as Director of the National Center of Meteorology. His Excellency has contributed to the development of the work system in the meteorology sector in the country, enhancing its technical infrastructure, which supports the accuracy of weather forecasts and strengthens the country's readiness to deal with climate changes, in addition to overseeing advanced national programs in the fields of cloud seeding and weather modification sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Meteorology from the University of Belgrade in Serbia, a Master's degree in Meteorology from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, and a Bachelor's degree in Meteorology from Saint Louis University in the United States of America.
