Ecuador's Minister of Agriculture, Bernardo Manzano, has approved a 10% increase in the price of sugarcane, raising it from 31.70 to 35.05 dollars per ton. This decision aims to benefit the country's 1,700 sugarcane producers, who have been experiencing rising production costs. The burden of this increase will fall on the sugar mills. The price adjustment was arrived at after discussions with both producers and mills, taking into account inflation, production costs, and market demand. The government assures that this move will not negatively impact the industrial sector or the final consumer.
