Ukraine: The price of raspberries fell due to overproduction

The increase in areas under raspberries in 2020-2022 led to overproduction of the berry in Ukraine, Poland, and Serbia, and as a result, the price asked for up to UAH 25/kg for frozen raw materials. Taras Bashtannyk, the president of the Ukrainian Fruit and Vegetable Association (UPOA), said this in a comment to the magazine "Gardening in Ukrainian". He calls this trend predictable. "A year ago, the price for the same quality was UAH 75-80/kg," he said. - Such price cycles are repeated regularly - once every four to five years. But the situation was worsened by several other factors: uncertainty - at what price processors will buy raspberries; shortage of working capital of raspberry producers; risks of power outage during storage and others".
