By decision of the Minister of Rural Development and Food of Greece, Kostas Tziarras, the fourth distribution of compensation to livestock farmers affected by the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in the amount of 12,248,642.97 euros has been carried out.
A total of 48,080,149.29 euros have been paid so far for operational expenses of the regions and compensation for livestock farmers, covering all affected areas of the country since the first case was reported in August 2024, according to the Greek Ministry.
The largest payments were directed to Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (17,656,738.31 euros) and Thessaly (16,463,708.27 euros), followed by Western Greece (4,573,114.34 euros), Central Macedonia (4,150,980.29 euros), and Central Greece (2,104,458.36 euros).

The new tranche of funds is mainly distributed to Thessaly, which receives 6,962,120.96 euros, while 3,438,114.12 euros have been paid to Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
