On June 15, 2023, in southern Upper Egypt, local meat prices experienced a decrease, with Canadian cuts now priced between 270 and 280 pounds per kilo, and frozen Indian meat at 200 pounds instead of the previous 220. Other meat prices included camel or minced meat at 300 pounds, lamb at 340 pounds, buffalo meat at 240 pounds, and chilled Sudanese meat at 270 pounds. The prices varied for different types of sausages, goat meat, and calves, with the cost also dependant on the country of origin. These prices were observed in butcher shops and various ministry outlets, with minced meat and frozen meat at army outlets being priced at 170 pounds and 180 pounds per kilo respectively.
