On the 400 hectares of entirely agroecological production that Marco van Strien and his wife, Margarita Tourn, work on near the sea in Claromecó, about 30 are reserved for barley for beer in each harvest season. In the more than 15 years since they changed their production method, they have probably had many milestones to be proud of, but sealing a particular agreement with the leading national beer producer is surely one of their greatest fulfilled wishes. “Regenerative barley is the first product that we, as agroecological producers in this area, have managed to have a differentiated sale,” explained Marco, who spoke with Bichos de Campo about how, along with 20 other colleagues from those regions, they supply their grains to the extensive circuit of national malt and beer production.
