The production of grains and oilseeds in the South decreased not only due to the weather.

According to Rosstat, the grain and legume harvest in the South this year amounted to 28.2 million tons, which is 12.1% less than last year, reports RBC. In particular, in the Krasnodar Krai, the gross harvest barely exceeded 11 million tons, which is almost 19% lower than last year's figure. The average yield also decreased by a quarter, to 47.3 centners per hectare. The largest drop in yield per hectare is observed in the sunflower region—by 33.3% to 13.6 centners, reports the magazine Pole.rf.

The reduction in the yield of grain and oilseed crops in the southern regions of Russia in 2025 is due to climatic conditions, not the transition to domestic seed material, said Igor Lobach, head of the National Seed Alliance (NSA), to the publication.
