The production of oleic acid from flax and rapeseed has been named a promising direction for Russia.

It can become one of the key drivers for the diversification of exports and import substitution. The prospects of deep processing of oilseed crops in Russia were noted by Oleg Knyazkov, Deputy Head of the Industry Expertise Center of Rosselkhozbank, at the X International Congress "Oil and Fat Industry." According to the expert, the country has serious opportunities for the development of oilseed processing, in particular flax and rapeseed. From these, oleic acid can be produced, which is in high demand in foreign markets. "We have excellent opportunities for the production of oleic acid. It is used for the paint and varnish industry—for example, in automotive and aviation manufacturing. These paints significantly differ in quality from those produced now," noted Knyazkov.
