The Farmers' Union has highlighted the nutritional properties of fresh and natural dates cultivated in Elche, in contrast to the imported dates found on distribution shelves, which are usually candied and have a high sugar content. This year's date harvest has been "poor," with a yield of about 60 tons, representing a drop of more than 10% compared to the previous year. This reduction is mainly attributed to the loss of production caused by the October rains, which forced the harvest to be accelerated, and the subsequent humidity, according to the Farmers' Union.
