The US Department of Commerce has announced a 0% anti-dumping tax rate for pangasius imported from Vietnam for the period August 1, 2018, to July 31, 2019, benefiting two Vietnamese pangasius exporters. This could boost the competitiveness of Vietnamese pangasius in the US market, as the country is the leading supplier, accounting for 90.5-95% of the total value of pangasius imports. Other pangasius processing and exporting enterprises can still compete with a national anti-dumping tax rate of 2.39 USD/kg. Meanwhile, other Vietnamese seafood species are also contributing to an export turnover of 4.1 billion USD in the first half of 2021, with tuna, squid, and octopus showing strong growth in both the US and Chinese markets.
