Farmers from Bulgaria's Zhitnitsa are once again turning their attention to rapeseed. After years of decline, the oilseed crop is experiencing a true revival, as it remains key to the region. Evidence of the increased interest from agricultural producers is the current doubling of acreage. This autumn, farmers from Dobrudzha planted just over 115,000 decares with rapeseed, which is double the approximately 70,000 decares in the previous agricultural year. In 2023, it was around 23,000 - 24,000 decares. Following a collapse in acreage, there has been an upward trend in rapeseed planting. Just 10-15 years ago, Dobrichko saw a boom of 300,000 - 330,000 decares. Then, the favorable combination of climatic conditions and price levels led to heightened interest and a drastic increase in acreage.
