In 2023, Russia saw a significant increase in its pea exports, reaching a record 2.9 million tons, a 2.6-fold increase from the previous year. The surge was largely driven by China, which started importing Russian peas in late 2022 and received over a million tons. Other major importers were Spain and Türkiye. The record export coincided with Russia's highest-ever grain legume harvest of 5.9 million tons, with peas accounting for 77% of the total export volume.
