In 2023, Russia saw a 12% increase in fish exports, totaling 2.2 million tons, with the majority being frozen fish, according to Rosrybolovstvo. The main species exported were pollock, herring, sardines, and crabs. The primary importers of Russian fish were China, South Korea, the Netherlands, Belarus, Japan, Kazakhstan, and Nigeria. This increase coincides with a record catch of 5.3 million tons of fish by Russian fishermen, the highest in the past 30 years.
