The Share of Imported Products Decreased
The pet goods market in Russia reached 510 billion rubles by the end of 2024, which is 17.7% more than the 2023 level, calculated the industry analytical portal "Zooinform". About 80% of this market in monetary terms falls on feed for non-productive domestic animals, primarily cats and dogs. This was reported by the content director of "Zooinform", advisor to the president of the National Association of the Zoo Industry (NAZ) Andrey Kolchin. According to him, the market driver was the growth in production and sales of feed for these animals. Feed for domestic birds, fish, and rodents accounts for only about 2% of the pet goods market.
Over the past three years, the number of cats and dogs in Russian families has grown by 11%, reaching slightly less than 50 million and slightly more than 25 million animals, respectively, according to the All-Russian Pet Census of 2023, cited by NAZ President Kirill Dmitriev. As a result, Russia, in his words, took third and fourth place in the world in the number of domestic cats and dogs, respectively.
