A study conducted by the Rusid breeding and seed company and pole.rf magazine has found that the use of domestically bred agricultural crop seeds in Russia increased significantly in 2024. The share of Russian-bred seeds for soybeans, sunflowers, and corn increased to 50%, 44%, and 48% respectively, due to government support and the creation of modern infrastructure. The import of corn and sunflower seeds has decreased significantly, while the yield has increased in various regions. The Russian government has approved a list of agricultural seeds for which quantitative restrictions on import from unfriendly countries may be introduced in 2025.
